
Gujranwala: Former Member of Provincial Assembly (MPA) of Pakistan
Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) Mudassir Qayyum has been arrested and
sent to Jail in case of having a Fake Degree. The former MPA has been
sentenced to one year Jail with a fine of two thousand rupees. His
sentence has been announced by District and Session Judge of
Gujranwala.
Mudassir Qayyum was a fake Bachelor of Arts (B.A) degree holder. On this fake degree he had
previously won the elections of 2002 and 2008 in which he was elected as Member of Provincial
Assembly (MPA) and Member of National (MNA) respectively.
However, in 2008 a case was registered against him from Election Commission of Pakistan after
which he was stated as ineligible for the job and was removed from his position. Finally in 2014 he
has been arrested due to having fake degree and is sentenced to a 1 year imprisonment with only
2,000 rupees as fine.
During his hearing in the court a large number of PML-N members were present outside the court.
He advised his supporters to keep patient and do not hinder the legal proceedings.
